Instagram-ing over Blogging?

I am not hanging out here much lately.  I have kinda lost my blogging way, you know?  I am finding it way more fun over at Instagram, but I miss the writing and the musing.

I think it got too hard when blogging went a bit pro.  I have a day job I am pretty good at, I don't really want to make money from my blog.  I have no problems with those who do, don't get me wrong.  But it  is pretty competitive out there.  I ask you, is there a place for a personal blog anymore?  One that more people than my mum and my bestie read?   Your thoughts people, I really want to know!

In the meantime, here are some of my fave instagram snaps, because you know I can't write a post without some pictures...

  1. I think I know exactly what you mean. I gave myself a blogging holiday over Christmas and it was blissful. It is important to remind yourself that it's ok to dip in and out when you feel like it. Why else would you do it?
I've never gotten the hang of Instagram, which is probably just as well, because I am ADDICTED to Twitter and have to have it turned off at work or I never get anything done. Your pics are amazing though and I love those earrings!
(Sorry that this comment is all about me... obviously I need to blog more to get all this me me me out of my system). And Happy New Year!

    1. I guess that is the advantage to not being pro - there is no pressure to post! Thanks for your thoughts - that was what I was looking for :) Keep up your blogging - i may not be the best comment-er, but I love reading your recipes. Am thinking of trying the little bread recipe tonight in fact!

  2. I'm with Lucy. There is most certainly a place for the amateur blogger - they are my favorite reads! They are also the ones who are much easier to actually engage with too. I have always enjoyed reading your blog Tracee and I love your Instagram shots!

  4. Now I'm not on instagram yet ( fearful of developing an addiction and have a reno to get through first) but it seems like a lovely instantaneous visual way of connecting with others. But where is the story? I think maybe instagram is the shiny catalogue and a blog is the coffee table book perhaps? My fave blogs are the creative non pro ones, people doing, creating, making and sharing for fun is the absolute best best best. Bring yours back I say! You inspired me to get started remember. Love those earrings by the way. mel x ps did you truly recognise the S&N lobby carpet?- i was having my 3 year overdue post partum GTT!

  5. I hear you. Instragram is so easy and immediate. I miss blogging, but not that much.

You summed it up perfectly, blogging has gotten so competitive, and some of the bigger ones I am not enjoying (or reading) any longer - I am off experiencing my own life! We just need to find our own place in this new word of technology, I am still searching......

  6. I never thought I would enjoy my blog break over Christmas as much as I did. The love that is shared over at Instagram is dragging us all over. I think there is a place for both. It's hard getting back into it though! A-M xx

  7. Hi Tracey just found your blog via IG. I feel exactly the same way. I loved my little blog but the shine went off when things changed a bit. I love IG as I can come and go and it is quick. I look forward to coming back with a cuppa and reading your blog. Deb

  8. I'm coming back to blogging now, but I hear you and disappeared over to instagram and Flickr for a bit. I do miss how it used to be and I think about the friends I made through blogging a few years back. I guess now I am making those friends on IG, though since I started posting again more frequently I have notice a couple of new followers on my gadget so I guess there are still people who want to hear a ramble along with the pretty pictures :)

  9. I have only just found your blog and I love it. I too have a real job and a blog, and have recently turned to instagram over the blog. I may get my mojo back, I may not. In the meantime I'm stinking with instagram too. Kx theblogahousebuilt.blogspot

  11. Yes - there's always a place for personal blogs. Some of the pro ones are just a bit too big and commercial. I do agree that IG is a lot of fun. See you on IG,
    Kylie
